Prince Albert Pastor sets sights on Ward 2 council seat

Another name has been dropped in the hat to represent residents in Prince Albert’s Ward 2.

Meghan Mayer, a local business owner at Salon 6 and Pastor at Embassy Church, has officially announced her candidacy.

“I am excited to announce that I will be running in Ward 2,” said Mayer in a press release. “I love this city, and I know that together we can create a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving community for all residents. My commitment is to listen to your concerns, represent your interests, and work tirelessly to address the diverse challenges we face in Ward 2.”

Mayer lives in the city with her family and has been actively involved in various local initiatives including Sports on Central, a community event that transforms downtown into a lively space for sports and family fun.

As a business owner in the downtown area, Mayer explained she spends her days in Ward 2, where she is deeply invested in the community’s success.

In addition to her entrepreneurial efforts, Mayer serves on several boards, including the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District.

“I am committed to the success of our city and want to serve the community in meaningful ways,” added Mayer. “Together, we can ensure that our neighborhood thrives and meets the needs of all its residents.”

Back in July, Mayer had initially indicated plans to run for the Sask Party in Prince Albert Carlton but later withdrew her name. She explained the reason had to do with other candidates putting their names forward.

As of last Friday’s update from the City, there are no candidates officially confirmed for Ward 2, however Troy Parenteau has also previously indicated intentions to run.

Earlier this month, Terra Lennox-Zepp announced that after eight years representing Prince Albert’s Ward 2, she would not seek re-election this fall.

The nomination period for fall elections closes at 4:00 pm on October 9. Election day is November 13.
