The 2025 Men’s Softball World Cup is set.

The eight-team tournament has now been finalized following the Group C Qualifying tournament in Oklahoma City, USA over the weekend, where the world learned the final three countries joining the others in Prince Albert for the World Cup Finals in July 2025.

Claiming two of the last three Finals tickets from Group C was the United States and Japan, while Venezuela secured the final spot as the second wild card team as the highest-ranked third-place team across all three group stage tournaments.

The U.S., Japan, and Venezuela now join Canada, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and the Dominican Republic as the teams who will compete in the Finals next summer.

U.S., Japan dominate in Group C

The United States and Japan both put on shows during the Group C Qualifiers last week.

The U.S. managed a flawless tournament to finish at a perfect 6-0, while Japan only lost once in the round robin to clinch spots at the World Cup Finals. The two countries beat out Guatemala, Colombia, The Netherlands, and South Africa in Group C.

After going 5-0 in preliminary play, the Americans advanced straight into the Finals alongside Japan, whose only round robin loss came against the States, 9-5. In the Grand Finals, the U.S. made quick work of Japan, blanking them 10-0 in four innings which sent the Japanese down to the repechage later that day.

In the do-or-die contest with Guatemala, the Japanese were sharp and efficient following their embarrassing loss to the U.S., winning 3-0 while only needing three hits to get the job done and claim the final spot.

With the U.S. and Japan headed to the Finals, Guatemala finished the Group C Qualifiers in third with a 4-3 record followed by Colombia at 2-4, and The Netherlands and South Africa at 1-5.

Across the three Qualifying tournaments, Argentina led all teams in run differential with a +45 (51-6), while the U.S. was a close second at +42 (51-9).

The 2025 Men’s Softball World Cup is set to get underway from Rotary Field in Prince Albert from July 8-13.
