Big River RCMP investigating shooting and bear macing incidents
At around 7:50 p.m. on August 25, Big River RCMP received a report of an adult male with a gunshot wound injury on Big River First Nation, Sask.
Officers responded and located the injured male at a residence on Big River First Nation. He was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.
An investigation determined the adult male and two other individuals were walking on Highway 793 when a grey SUV drove past and a firearm was discharged multiple times with one round hitting the adult male.
That same evening, officers received a second report that bear mace had been sprayed on Big Loop Road on Big River First Nation. An investigation determined the bear mace was sprayed from a grey SUV driven by an unknown individual(s), and it’s believed to be the same SUV from the earlier incident. An adult female was assessed by EMS for injuries described as non-life threatening.
