The vote is on for Candle Lake

Jun 25, 2024 | 1:13 PM

With three names in the running for mayor and five people looking to be on council, voters in the Resort Village of Candle Lake have some selection in the upcoming election.

Current Mayor Terry Kostyna’s name is not on the list, however. Instead, mayoral candidates include Colleen Lavoie, Borden Wasyluk, and Joseph Barczai.

In 2020, Wasyluk lost the mayoral vote to Kostyna by a decisive margin and Barczai is hoping to move up from his current seat on council.

Running for council are incumbents Debra Hunter and Jonathon Attig. Douglas Allan, Hugh Garven and Shelly Voykin are the remaining three candidates.

Election day is Saturday, July 27 with polls cast at the community hall between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Advance polls will be available on July 19 and 20 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., also at the hall.

More information about how to mail in our ballot and acceptable identification are available on the Village’s website.
