A man is dead and another has been arrested after a shooting south of Winnipeg that led to a manhunt in Saskatchewan.

Winnipeg police say they were alerted by RCMP early this morning about people with guns in a stolen truck heading toward the city.

Police say after a chase, the stolen vehicle rammed a police cruiser, officers fired and the suspects sped off.

They say officers caught up to the truck, managed to arrest a woman who tried to flee on foot and found a man in the vehicle who had been shot.

The man died before he could be taken to hospital.

The driver of the truck jumped into another vehicle and fled.

RCMP say a 29-year-old suspect was arrested in the afternoon, without incident, near Yorkton, Sask.
