Buckland Fire called for rescue at Wahpeton bridge

One person was taken to hospital on Tuesday after a rescue near the Wahpeton Dakota Nation.

Buckland Fire and Rescue said that just after 3:00 pm, they responded to a call that a person had jumped into the river just past the Wahpeton First Nation but in the RM of Buckland.

RCMP, Parkland Ambulance and the Prince Albert Fire Department (PAFD) also responded as the PAFD provides water rescue services.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the person wasn’t in the water but on the land below the bridge.

Firefighters helped paramedics carry up the riverbank to the ambulance before returning to base.
