West Hill bear captured, moved to forest

A bear that was seen wandering the West Hill area of Prince Albert, first on 2nd Avenue near the top of the hill then on 21st Street and 4th Avenue has been captured and re-located.

Prince Albert Police contained the bear in a backyard shortly after noon on Monday.

It was then tranquilized by Conservation Officers and taken to the Northern Provincial Forest and released.

“This successful operation highlights the effective co-operation between members of the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety’s Provincial Protective Services and the Prince Albert City Police,” said the ministry in an e-mailed statement.
