Prince Albert’s anti-graffiti program receives upgrade

Mar 31, 2024 | 8:00 AM

When the City of Prince Albert’s Anti-Graffiti Program returns next week, there’s a new option available for people who may have difficulty doing the work themselves.

Homeowners, business owners, and privately owned facilities can now apply to the City for assistance. In the past, it’s been up to the residents to make the trip to City Hall and retrieve a paint kit.

Parks and Open Spaces Manager Tim Yeaman explained this is geared towards helping seniors and added work requiring assistance will be capped at $100.

According to a news release from the City, painting and graffiti removal under the program can only be undertaken on one’s personal property.

“Residents are not permitted to remove graffiti on a neighbouring property, public bench, community facility, utility company amenity, or any other area or property not owned by the applicant,” the release explained.

Concerning rental properties, only the actual owner of the property can apply for the program, and all applicants may be required to provide proof of property ownership, like a tax receipt.

The Anti-Graffiti Program starts April 2 and is available as long as weather permits. Applications received when temperatures are consistently less than 0, will not be considered.

More information can be found on the city’s website.

The city also reminds residents that if they experience ongoing vandalism to report, record, or remove it. This allows the city officials to track where it’s occurring.
