Raiders play host to Rebels to wrap up season series
The Prince Albert Raiders (27-26-1-3) and Red Deer Rebels (30-20-2-6) are set to close out their season series on Wednesday night.
The hump day contest is the fifth and final game that P.A. will play against Red Deer this year, which is an abnormality as the Raiders will have played all other Central Division opponents four times. This is because of the Winnipeg ICE’s move to Wenatchee, causing a gap in the schedule.
The Raiders come into the game with a win in their last matchup on Saturday, downing a depleted Brandon Wheat Kings team 5-2 at the Art Hauser Centre. Before that, P.A. saw their three-game win streak snapped by the Wheaties on Thursday by a 3-2 score. The one loss in the last five games makes for a 4-1 record, which translates into a 7-3 record in their last 10 games.
The Rebels also enter with a win in their last matchup, and a big one at that which happened less than 24 hours ago in Saskatoon. Red Deer managed to shut out the Blades 5-0 in what was Saskatoon’s first shutout loss of the season and just their third home defeat at the SaskTel Centre. The big win now puts the Rebels at 2-3 in their last five games and 3-5-1-1 in their last 10.
