Raiders kick off road trip with win in Lethbridge

So far so good for the Prince Albert Raiders on their longest road trip of the season.

The Raiders kicked off a seven-game road trip with a 4-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

It was a game that started slow and then quickly escalated in the third period with a pair of penalty shots. Both Ryder Ritchie of the Raiders and Miguel Marques of the Hurricanes failed to score, and in the end the Raiders held on for a narrow win on the road.

“I thought we had some major bus legs in the first, but shook it off and weathered the storm,” said Raiders assistant coach Keaton Ellerby. “Could have been a different story but they did a good job of weathering that storm and getting the win tonight.”

With the win the Raiders improved to 10-8-0-1 on the season. They’ll take on the Spokane Chiefs Friday night in Washington.

“Getting that first one’s going to be big. It’s a lot of hockey in a short period of time and all on the road, so getting points when we can get them is huge and tonight was no different,” Ellerby said.
