SaskTel IDs three new cell tower locations in Prince Albert

Nov 3, 2023 | 5:00 PM

Three locations for new cell towers in Prince Albert have been identified by Sasktel.

One is in a lane near 12th Street West, another is near the drainage channel on 28th Street East and the third is next to the Cook Municipal Golf Course, next to 7th Avenue East.

The locations are not yet final and will be presented for public feedback before installation is done.

All property owners within a radius of three times the proposed tower heights will be notified and Sasktel then must address all reasonable and relevant concerns.

While city hall is not the deciding authority on where the towers will go, SaskTel is looking for their approval through an update at the council meeting on Monday.

Cell towers are federally regulated and therefore not subject to the local approval process.

SaskTel will go ahead with locating underground utilities and surveying property after the council update.

They also need to work with whoever owns the lots in questions with an eye to either buying or leasing each site.

No timelines have been given for when the towers will be operational.
