Gabe Klassen is sporting the ‘C’ for his senior season.

It was announced on Thursday that the Prince Albert born centre will captain the Portland Winterhawks for the second straight season after leading them to the second round of the playoffs last season.

Klassen has spent his entire five year WHL career in Portland and has amassed 168 points (86g, 82a) in 185 games since being drafted by the team in 2018. The 20-year-old spent his minor hockey days in Prince Albert playing for the U15 Raiders and the U18 Mintos before making the jump to Major Junior.

Last season was a special one for Klassen. Not only was it his first year wearing the ‘C’, but it was his first and only time he was able to play a game with the Winterhawks against his hometown Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. During the game, he managed to earn the games first star with a goal and two assists.

So far in his final campaign, he has three goals and six assists in just four games.

Klassen will have one more dance against the Raiders with the Winterhawks when Prince Albert visits Portland on November 17.
