Raiders look to stay perfect at home with Oil Kings in town

Oct 3, 2023 | 11:00 AM

The Prince Albert Raiders are back in the friendly confines of the Art Hauser Centre Tuesday night as they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Raiders are coming off a narrow 4-3 home win over the Regina Pats on Friday night. With the victory, the Raiders improved to 2-2 on the season and are an unblemished 2-0 at home.

Raiders forward Brayden Dube was named the first star on Friday after scoring a beautiful goal in the second period. Raiders goaltender Chase Coward made a key stop on Pats forward Brady Barnett on a breakaway in the dying seconds of the third period to preserve the win, his first of the year.

Edmonton meanwhile is off to a solid start to the season with a 2-1-0-1 record. Recently, the Oil Kings exploded offensively on Sunday on their way to an 8-5 home win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. This will be the second road game of the season so far for Edmonton who won 4-2 in Red Deer on opening night.

Who to Watch

Raiders star forward Sloan Stanick got the monkey off of his back Friday, scoring his first goal of the season after a crafty setup from linemate Ryder Ritchie.

Raiders forward and alternate captain Niall Crocker also scored his first tally of the season Friday. The 19-year-old could be poised for a breakout season.

You can catch Tuesday’s game on 900 CKBI with the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the opening faceoff just after 7:00 p.m.

After Tuesday night, the Raiders will hit the road with a pair of games in Alberta this weekend. They’ll try to pick up their first road win of the year on Friday in Red Deer before taking on the Oil Kings again in Edmonton on Saturday.
