Summer Free Ride winner drives off with new SUV

Jonathan Scragg from the Prince Albert area was the lucky winner of the Summer Free Ride contest with Pattison Media on Saturday afternoon.

The contest was held throughout the summer where people could enter online or in person during any of the three Prince Albert radio stations live-on-location events. The final draw for the SUV was at the Knotty Pine Bistro in Little Red River Park.

Scragg was at a loss for words moments after he won the car.

There were over 13,000 total entries for the grand prize which were narrowed down to 101 finalists.

The car they were hopeful of winning was a fully customized 2014 Jeep Compass with new rims and tires, glass, remote starter, a 2″ lift kit with suspension work, flares, hitch, a roof basket, and lightbar with an upgraded radio and sound system.

“I didn’t think I’d be standing up here today being the winner,” Scragg said excitedly. “I heard they were doing online entries off the start – I was one of the VIP entries and I entered because why not.”

The way they determined a winner was whoever had their name called at the event pulled a key from a bag and tried to open a locked box holding the key to the SUV. Scragg also went home with an inflatable paddleboard, a Barbeque, Meat Package and Barbeque Rub Package. The person who drew the winner’s name to select a key also didn’t go home empty handed as he won $200 worth of free gas. Scragg only had one entry in the contest.

After he gets his new SUV registered, he said that he’s going to show it off to family and friends and cruise around the city.
