Forty SPSA wildland firefighters depart P.A. airport to help with NWT wildfire efforts

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) recently sent 40 wildland firefighters to help with the wildfire efforts in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

They flew out of the Prince Albert airport Thursday morning. They’re expected to remain in the area for around two weeks but can be called back to Saskatchewan at any time.

The firefighters were also joined by an Incident Management Team, made up of five staff, and two agency representatives.

Their departure comes around the same time Sask. Premier Scott Moe took to social media to express the province’s desire to support the NWT and its people in any way they can.

Meanwhile, the SPSA said there are also 16 wildland firefighters who are currently in the Yukon to help with wildfire efforts.
