Two charged after stealing ATV near Rosthern

Jul 11, 2023 | 6:00 AM

Rosthern RCMP are charging two people in connection to a stolen ATV.

Last week, police were called about a break-and-enter in progress at a residence on La Plaine Trail.

A man was reportedly trying to steal a vehicle but ended up breaking into a shed where he found the ATV. He ended up using it to get away along with a woman.

Shortly after, police found the woman alone and arrested her without incident.

A little later and officers found the man traveling on foot on the side of Highway 11 near Rosthern. He was eventually arrested without incident after originally resisting with RCMP later recovering the ATV.

As a result, 27-year-old Glen Halkett has been charged with breaking and entering, theft of a vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, mischief, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Halkett is no stranger to police as back in 2021 he was wanted in connection to an armed robbery. He ended up evading police which caused a multi-day manhunt.

Twenty-year-old Alyssa Bear has since been charged with theft of a vehicle and failing to comply with a release order condition. She had warrants out for her arrest from Prince Albert RCMP and the Prince Albert Police Service.

Both made an appearance in a Prince Albert courtroom on July 7, 2023.
