Highway 3 Baseball League gears up for weekend showcase
The Highway 3 Baseball League is preparing to host its showcase this weekend.
The league’s eight teams along with their supporters will flock to Nipawin and Tisdale to watch their teams play a pair of games against different opponents.
With teams spanning from Prince Albert to Hudson Bay, travel and interconference play was a concern when making the season schedule back in the spring. Now, with the showcase this weekend, teams will have the chance to see what competition is like in the other conference.
“We had two expansion teams this year – we split up into divisions of four just to keep travel down,” Adam Morrison explained, member of the league’s Board of Directors. “We still wanted to get cross-over games in, but we couldn’t really figure out a good schedule that would work for everyone. So what we decided to do was say ‘Hey, let’s get all the teams in one place’ – shorter drive for everyone, see new teams, and it’s a good way to get to other games in and see the other division.”
