Construction nearly done on access road to P.A.’s Diefenbaker Bridge

Traffic will soon be flowing again through one of Prince Albert’s busiest intersections.

Construction has been ongoing for around a month on 12^th Street West, in front of the EA Rawlinson Centre between First Avenue West and Second Avenue West. This road is one of the main access points to the Diefenbaker Bridge.

City crews have been working to replace the water main and storm sewer under the road after a large sinkhole popped up last summer.

According to the City of Prince Albert, work on the storm sewer is done with crews currently working on replacing the water main. This is expected to be finished by the middle of next week.

After that, SaskPower will take over the project for a couple of days before work on repaving the road and fixing the curbs and sidewalks can start.

There’s no firm timeline on how long this work will take, though it’s not expected to be as long as the water main and storm sewer replacement.

When the city first announced the project, they estimated it would take around six weeks to complete, which would be sometime in mid-July.
