No trial for man accused of stabbing child in Ahtahkakoop

The 19-year-old man accused of stabbing an 11-year-old relative in Ahktahkakoop earlier this year has been put into the care of the Sask. Review Board.

The Crown and defence lawyers both agreed with the move after learning the accused is not fit to stand trial.

The accused has a severe traumatic brain injury from a vehicle accident several years ago.

According to statements made in Prince Albert Provincial Court the morning of July 4, the Review Board will schedule a disposition hearing within 45 days.

The victim is doing well and is living with grandparents, family members told the court, who were in court also to support the accused.
