Prince Albert athletes shine at provincial Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition

Prince Albert and area was well represented this past weekend at the annual COPA Sask BJJ Tournament in Regina.

From North Wake Martial Arts, Jules Carriere competed in the heavyweight white belt division and won two gold medals. One was for Gi and the other was No Gi.

Meanwhile Naviah Johnson won gold in her female youth division.

From the Renegade Grappling Academy, young warrior Henry Jubenvill dominated in his 45-pound white belt division. Competing against other six and seven year olds, Jubenvil won two gold medals (Gi and No Gi).

From the BJJ Lab, Darren Sokulski won silver in his adult white belt category.

In total, over 400 athletes were registered for the one-day competition.
