Amateur Radio Field Day

Members of the Melfort Repeater Group will be participating in the national amateur radio Field Day exercise, June 24 th and 25th .

Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of amateur radio.

The Melfort Repeater Group have been around since the early 1970’s and have been a participant in Field day for many of those years. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

WHEN :Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25. 12pm Saturday til 12pm Sunday.

WHERE: : 20 Mins South of Melfort on Highway 6 at the corner of Highway 6 and Windigo Road.Look for the Signs.

WHY: Field Day is a showcase for how amateur radio works reliably under any conditions and from almost any location to create an independent communications network. Ham radio functions completely independent of the internet or cell phone infrastructure.It can interface with laptops or smartphones, and can be set up almost anywhere in minutes.
