Jun 2, 2023 | 11:49 AM

A man wanted in connection with a serious assault that lasted for several hours has been arrested after being found by police in Montreal Lake.

Isiah Roberts, 22, had his first court appearance in Prince Albert Friday morning after being caught Thursday and will remain in custody at least until his bail hearing on June 16.

RCMP found Roberts in a home in the community and arrested him with the help of the Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section, Prince Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Team, and the Prince Albert RCMP Police Dog Services.

The investigation began very early on May 29 after police were told of an assault on a woman in a home in Montreal Lake that last for several hours.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Among the charges that Roberts is facing are attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault and unlawful confinement.

When police first attempted to arrest Roberts, they allege he fled into a nearby wooded area in order to avoid capture.
