Man accused of attempted murder, maintains innocence

A man accused of attempted murder, and who tried unsuccessfully to outrun police when he was arrested last March, has entered a number of not guilty pleas.

Germain Michel’s matters were addressed Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

With respect to the offence that occurred on Dec. 27, a trial date was confirmed for Nov. 7.

It’s alleged Michel attempted to shoot the victim.

Also stemming from the incident were charges related to possession of a firearm, being an occupant in a vehicle knowing a firearm was present, and breaching a previous probation order that prohibited him from owning or possessing any firearms.

Following Michel’s arrest in Prince Albert on March 29. several additional charged were added including resisting a police officer. Police also seized a live round of ammunition and a loaded .22 calibre rifle.

At the time, Michel also had an outstanding warrant from Southend and one from Alberta.

In the coming six months, the 31-year-old will also face trial for a list of other charges that range from robbery and theft of a motor vehicle, to dangerous driving, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
