Christopher Poulin, the 28-year-old Prince Albert man who was part of an Amber Alert on Tuesday, never left Thunder Bay with his eight-year-old son.

Thunder Bay Police said Wednesday that they found Poulin and the boy in a rural area of the city’s northside at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Poulin was arrested without incident and is charged with abduction, forcible confinement and breach of a release order.

Deputy-Inspector Jeremy Pearson of the Thunder Bay Police said when they received the report, they responded with every facet of their service.

He called the use of the Amber Alert a major step that needed to be justified by the information learned in the investigation.

“The Amber Alert and the heightened awareness is what helped lead to its safe resolution,” he said.

It was through a tip from the public that police found the pair.

No Amber Alert was issued in Saskatchewan, which was believed to be a likely destination for Poulin as he is from Prince Albert.

“In this case, for want of a better phrase, the system worked,” said Pearson. Poulin made his first appearance in court Wednesday.
