The man accused of killing the man who was convicted of killing his son may be released from custody by the end of May.

Reginald Durocher, age 64, is awaiting the completion of a judicial interim release order which is expected to be completed this month.

He appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court today by video from a detention centre with his lawyer setting his next appearance for May 31.

Durocher is facing one charge of first degree murder in connection with the death of Ryan David Clarke.

Clarke died on April 4 after being hit by a pickup truck in the parking lot of a liquor store in Northside, a small community near Christopher Lake.

Clarke was released from jail in late 2022 pending a new trial on his own charge of killing Christopher Durocher, Reginald’s son, in 2016.

A Prince Albert jury convicted him, but Clarke successfully appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada with the high court ruling that trial judge should have given the jury better instructions about the unreliability of eyewitness testimony.

Christopher, age 37, was beaten to death and his body was found inside a camper on his parent’s property.
