Ready, aim, win. That’s what dozens of local archers did during a busy weekend at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

The Timberland Bowbenders hosted two major events on Saturday and Sunday with the JOP (Junior Olympics) Championships and the provincial tournament.

Nearly 600 athletes took part during the two days.

Stacy Moran, the Vice President of the Timberland Bowbenders, told paNOW he was extremely impressed with how the local archers performed.

“We did really well, everything went smoothly. The local club did good,” he said.

Among some of the winners from the club include Gage Malenfant who finished third in the U18 Compound Male category and Tristan Spicer-Moran who was first in the senior unlimited category.

Others from the club who finished well included Kamryn Dumais who was fourth in the Female U18 Compound division and Olivia Best who finished third in Female U13 Recurve. Ava Haydukewich meanwhile, finished fourth in U10 Recurve.

Moran said many of the local archers also achieved personal bests.

With the recent provincials behind them, the Timberland Bowbenders are now looking forward to some other major events in the coming weeks.

The club will host the Canada Cup West on June 9th-11th at the Wildlife Federation. Roughly 75 of the best archers from western Canada will take part.
