Council meeting

Food vendor rules and transit on Monday agenda

Apr 3, 2023 | 8:00 AM

Monday’s executive committee meeting of Prince Albert city council includes items like having the city donate unclaimed bikes to Ukrainian families, modifying the rules for food trucks, and a review of the city’s transit system.

One speaker will ask the council to consider donating recovered bicycles to Ukrainian newcomers, most of whom have moved here with no belongings.

As of the beginning of March, about 50 new Ukrainian families are living in Prince Albert.

Councillors will also hear from a food truck vendor who would like them to re-consider a rule for food trucks that was first introduced several years ago.

The owners of Buzz Food are suggesting the city reduce the distance food trucks can be from restaurants from 100 meters so something much shorter.

A review of the city’s transit system done for the 2022 ridership year is also on the table. Last year was a change year for the system with the arrival of six different buses that replaced the new ones with cracked frames bought in 2021.

Council meets at 4:00 pm at City Hall.
