Raiders continue three-in-three weekend in Winnipeg

Mar 18, 2023 | 11:22 AM

The Prince Albert Raiders (27-34-3-0) are in Manitoba’s capital tonight where they look to pull out a win against the CHL’s best Winnipeg ICE (53-9-1-0) at Wayne Fleming Arena.

The Raiders stayed alive in the playoff race last night having dropped the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 to also wrap up the season series. The win also put PA back into the win column after falling in the previous game to Winnipeg 4-3 on Tuesday.

The ICE are coming back into action after a three-day break where their last game was, coincidentally, against PA earlier this week. Winnipeg has been the team to beat this season, losing just ten combined times with the most recent loss coming against Regina (5-3) back on March 3.

Prince Albert has, so far, found no success versus the ICE as Winnipeg holds the season series lead at 4-0-0-0 and has outscored the Raiders 24-10.

After tonight, the two clubs will square off once again tomorrow afternoon to wrap up the season series. Puck drop is slated for 4:05pm CST (5:05pm CDT)

Against the Wall

Like last night, the Raiders are once again on the brink of elimination however instead of three things that need to happen, the number is two.

Those two events are:

1) Prince Albert loses to Winnipeg in regulation

2) Calgary defeats Medicine Hat in regulation

The Raiders will be officially out of playoff contention if these two things happen tonight.

A look at the Eastern Conference standings heading into tonight.

Who to Watch

Forward Sloan Stanick added two more goals to his season totals last night which helped him reach some career milestones. The pride of Rapid City, MB reached 25 goals on the season for the first time in his career with the goal also being the 50th in his career.

Rookie Ryder Ritchie earned the game’s second star last night after netting himself a goal and an assist. The points also helped the 16-year-old reach some incredible milestones in his first year as he cracked the 50-point plateau with his first-period goal.

Blueliner Landon Kosior continued his impressive stretch after netting an assist against Brandon to extend his point streak to four games. The veteran had points in five of his last six games having potted seven assists over that span. The Regina product also sits one point shy of 60 on the year.
