Warmup shack in Christopher Lake used as party house

Mar 14, 2023 | 4:30 PM

The mayor of a community north of Prince Albert said a warmup shack was used as a party house and now changes in security are coming.

Mayor Chris McShannock of the Village of Christopher Lake spoke to paNOW after posting about the incident on Facebook.

“Somebody decided to have a party there and there was a bunch of beer bottles and beer cans and cigarette butts and garbage was thrown everywhere,” he said, adding it happened sometime over the weekend and village staff came to the shack to clean it up.

He added that the outdoor rink is a fairly new facility and the warmup shack is open and fully accessible.

However, that will change as McShannock said they will soon be putting in some security features including a camera system.

“We’ve had some discussions on automatic door locks so that the doors lock automatically when the lights go off but the camera system has already been ordered so it’ll be installed moving forward this week,” he said.
