A member of the Prince Albert Raiders recently celebrated a major milestone with the team.

Duane “Puff” Bartley, the club’s athletic therapist and equipment manager, worked his 1,500th career game this past weekend.

He was honoured by General Manager Curtis Hunt in a ceremony before the Raiders’ game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

“The first thing about Puff is his commitment to the players, his professionalism, and his attention to detail,” said Hunt. “With all of the different programs we have, we ask him to support the tracking of that, and he does such a great job of making sure everything is done, making sure information is put where it needs to be put.”

Bartley is currently in his 22nd season with the Raiders. His first game was back in the 2001-02 season. Over the years he’s made a lot of close relationships including with former Raiders general manager and head coach Bruno Campese.

“I love the guy. He works so hard and he does so much for the organization,” said Campese. “I can’t say enough good things about him. He was basically a one-man show during my time there. He’s an easy guy to talk to, and every morning I looked forward to getting to the office and sitting down with him and talking about what’s going on.”

Despite the Lethbridge Hurricanes being the Raiders’ opponent during Bartley’s 1,500th game, the ‘Canes’ general manager couldn’t help but congratulate the milestone man.

“Puff’s care of the players is second to none,” said Peter Anholt, who served as the Raiders Head Coach from 2002-03 through 2006-07. “We spent a lot of time together and did lots of things away from the rink, too, like sledding and so on. Those were really special moments because you really get to appreciate his humour and his character.”

During the pregame ceremony, Bartley was given a plaque and a custom smoker.
