Raiders head south to face Warriors

Mar 4, 2023 | 1:19 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders (25-30-3-0) look to pull out a win tonight against the slumping Moose Jaw Warriors (35-22-0-3) at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The Raiders were held off the scoreboard in their last matchup against the Lethbridge Hurricanes last night where they lost 3-0. Prior to the loss PA was rolling after knocking off the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 on Tuesday night. The loss hurts the Raiders playoff chances but not by much, as they still sit five points back of the Broncos for the final playoff spot in the East.

The Warriors on the other hand have been seeing themselves trending downward as of late, losing their last three matchups which include a 4-0 loss to Swift Current, a 7-3 blowout to Brandon, and a 4-1 defeat to Saskatoon just last night. Moose Jaw is 2-3-0-0 in their last five.

This is the fifth of six meetings between these clubs with the season series sitting at 2-2. The Warriors won the opening two games of the series 4-3, 3-2 before the Raiders shifted the momentum and won the latest two 2-1, 5-2.

After tonight, Prince Albert gets set to host the Brandon Wheat Kings for the final time this season on Tuesday night.

An updated look at the Eastern Conference standings heading into the game.

Who to Watch

Blueliner Landon Kosior looks to continue to turn heads in his final season. The Regina product has a team-leading 52 points through 50 games this season. The veteran is just six goals shy of reaching the 50-career goal milestone.

Rookie Ryder Ritchie has proven himself this season, scoring 43 points in 51 games this season. Prior to last nights loss, the 16-year-old was riding a seven-game point streak scoring 12 points (4G, 8A) over that span.
