Absentee stabbing suspect skips another court date

Mar 3, 2023 | 8:00 AM

For the fifth time in less than a year, a man accused of stabbing another man outside the Prince Albert Superstore has failed to attend court after being released on bail.

As a result of Eagleclaw Sanderson’s most recent no-show, a warrant has been reissued for his arrest.

The 23-year-old was initially charged in Prince Albert in March of 2022, after an incident in which three people accosted two others outside the Superstore.

A watcher intervened and in the resulting scuffle, was stabbed near the heart.

Sanderson was subsequently charged with aggravated assault.

In addition to the assault charges, he now also faces five charges of failing to appear in court and breaching his release conditions. Sanderson’s most recent bail was granted on Feb. 9, on a promise he attend court on March 2.

The reasons why the judge granted his release, are protected by a publication ban.

On December 11, 2022, Sanderson was also charged by Saskatoon Police with possessing a knife, carrying a concealed weapon and failing to abide by his release conditions.
