Child seriously injured in assault on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a serious incident involving a child in Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

On Tuesday morning, RCMP said they received a call of a serious assault at a home on the First Nation.

Officers later found an injured child, who was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with serious injuries.

One man was arrested at the scene, but his identity is not being provided to protect the privacy of the victim.

The 19-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon and is due in court on Thursday.
