A police vehicle was shot at during a high-speed pursuit that started along 13 Street East in Prince Albert.

At around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Prince Albert police officers were called to an area of 28 Street East for reports of two people being threatened with a gun.

The suspect involved allegedly blocked another vehicle, pointing the gun at the man and woman before driving east on 28th Street.

Police later found the vehicle near 5th Avenue and 13 Street East, and attempted to stop the suspect who ignored police warnings and drove away,

Due to the serious nature of the crime and the report of threats involving firearms, police pursued the vehicle outside the city, at which time at least one gunshot was fired at police.

Along Highway 693, the only occupant of the vehicle was arrested at the scene. Police later found live and spent rounds of ammunition, and a long-barrelled rifle.

Officers also recovered a sawed-off rifle in a ditch close by.

Police said the vehicle was reported stolen from 15th Street East early Tuesday morning.

A 21-year-old man now faces several charges and remains in custody. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
