Bears, Wildcats split final weekend set of 2022

PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Northern Bears closed out their final games of 2022 where they split the two contests one apiece with the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Bears won the first on Saturday 4-2 before the Wildcats returned the favour in game two on Sunday 4-1.

Julia Cey and Kelsey Ledoux led the Bears over the weekend, each putting up three points in the set. Cey tallied two goals and an assist while Ledoux had three helpers. Jazlyn Petreman and Kassie Ferster had two assists across the weekend while Sasha Malenfant also had two points with a goal and an assist. Claudia Lammers and Jasmine Kohl each had a goal and Kinley Brassard had an assist in the games.

Some notable performances for Swift Current included Jerzey Watteyne who had five points (1G, 4A), Addison Eurich and Sadie Keller who each had four points, and Taylre Becker and Tess Bakus who both had just one.

Brooke Archer and Annika Neufeldt combined for 54 saves across both games where PA now sits with a 5-13-1-0 record heading into the break.

Paige Fischer and Karlee Lehner totaled 56 saves together this weekend to put Swift Current at a record of 13-5-0-0 on the year.

The Bears return from their Holiday break on Jan. 7 when they play host to the Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 1pm.
