Local agencies partner to reduce impaired driving over the holidays

Dec 11, 2022 | 8:00 AM

Prince Albert residents needing a safe ride home over the holidays are being offered a special deal.

Prince Albert and Area Community Alcohol Strategy Steering Committee (CASSC) has partnered with SGI, Grey Cab and Checker/Family Taxi to offer $15 cab coupons.

The Prince Albert Police Service has in turn distributed the coupons to local licensed establishments and the taxi companies will also have them available.

The value of the cab coupons has increased to $15 from $10 in previous years.

They can be used between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. and expire on Jan. 31, 2023

Window clings with a QR code that takes you to Terms of Use for the cab coupons are displayed at local liquor retailers and local licensed establishments.

Anyone heading out for a Christmas party or social event is also encouraged to let their cab driver know in advance they want to use a Cab Coupon.

In addition to the cab coupons, residents can also contact Operation of Red Nose. A team of volunteers will help get you and your vehicle home safely.

The most recent crime statistics provided by police are for the period ending Oct. 31.

They show 60 incidents this year related to impaired driving, which represents a 30 per cent decrease from the same ten-month period in 2021.
