RED DEER, AB – Penalties plagued the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday night where the Red Deer Rebels throttled them 6-1 at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

The loss comes 24 hours after defeating the Calgary Hitmen 5-2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Six different Rebels managed to find the back of the net: Kai Uchacz, Jace Isley, Frantisek Formanek, Arjun Bawa, Kalan Lind, and Jhett Larson. As for assists, nine different Red Deer players managed to tally one in the game.

Keaton Sorensen was the lone goal scorer for the Raiders while Sloan Stanick and Carson Latimer both collected assists on the play.

PA netminders Max Hildebrand and Tikhon Chaika combined for 31 saves on the night as the Raiders now fall to 9-13-2-0 on the campaign.

Rhett Stoesser made 20 stops in the win helping Red Deer improve to 17-4-0-3 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

It was all Red Deer in the opening frame where the Rebels hung three goals on the Raiders. Uchacz capitalized on the powerplay for Red Deer midway through the period and Isley added an even strength marker not too long after. In the dying minutes of the period, Formanek scored a highlight reel goal.

Penalties continued to plague the Raiders in the second where the Rebels added two more on the man-advantage. Bawa scored his first in the WHL, while Lind potted his fifth of the year to make it 5-0 going into the final frame.

Larson added another for the Rebels early in the third before the Raiders got on the board shortly after. Stanick connected with Sorensen on the powerplay to spoil Stoesser’s shutout bid and that would be as close as PA would come.

The Raiders are back on the ice in less than 24 hours where they’ll take on the Medicine Hat Tigers at 4:00pm MT (5:00 pm CST).
