Raiders kick off 3-in-3 weekend against surging Hitmen

Nov 25, 2022 | 1:48 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders (8-12-2-0) put their three-game winning streak on the line Friday night as they kick off their second 3-in-3 of the year against the Calgary Hitmen (11-7-0-0) at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

This is the third of four meetings between these clubs this season, where Calgary took the win in their two previous meetings by 6-1 and 6-2 decisions.

The Hitmen have been hot in November, winning eight of their last ten games. This is also Calgary’s first game back from their US road trip which saw the Hitmen fall 4-1 in Portland and 4-3 in Tri-City.

The Raiders will play twice more in the following 48 hours, where they’ll play the Red Deer Rebels Saturday night and the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

A look at the Eastern Conference standings as of Nov. 25.

Who to Watch

Captain Evan Herman put on a show in his first game as the Raiders’ new leader, scoring twice while adding an assist. His outing last game against the Tigers was enough to earn him the game’s first star, and he will look to build off that performance as he sits just five points short of 100 career WHL points.

Like Herman, alternate captain Sloan Stanick also hung two goals and an assist on Medicine Hat. His performance on Saturday snapped a three-game pointless streak for the forward. The Rapid City, Man., product has one goal in two games against the Hitmen this season.

Veteran Keaton Sorensen has been quietly doing his thing all season, potting 15 points (9G, 6A) in 21 games so far this season. The speedy forward is currently riding a three-game point streak where he’s scored two goals and two assists over that span. He’s also tied with Landon Kosior for the most goals on the team with nine.
