Emergency alert issued after shooting death in Melville; RCMP searching for two suspects

An emergency alert has been issued after a shooting death in Melville.

According to SaskAlert, a homicide involving a firearm occurred Wednesday morning in Melville.

“There’s believed to be two suspects involved,” RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier said. “Because it’s in the early stages of the investigation, we don’t have any descriptions available.

“What we really want the public to know is do not pick up hitchhikers and please be cautious if anyone is asking for a ride and report suspicious persons or activity immediately to police by calling 911.”

A vehicle that may have been involved was found abandoned on Highway 10 near Duff, SaskAlert said.

The RCMP asked the public to report any stolen vehicles immediately.

Maier said more details would be made available when the Mounties have them.

“We have investigators who are responding to conduct the investigation and looking for the individuals involved,” she said. “As soon as we have more information to share with the public, we will notify them.”
