Violent crimes and break-and-enters, see big jumps in September
According to the most crime statistics provided by the Prince Albert Police Service, the reported number of violent crimes in the city continues to rise.
For the month of September there were 117 reported assaults. This compared to 137 in August and 73 for the same month in 2021. Year-to-date (to Sept. 30) there have been 987 reported assaults, which represents a 60 per cent increase from the same period in 2021.
Also in the area of violent crimes, there were 12 reported sexual violations last month and 13 robberies. There were no homicides or attempted murders.
Another trend continuing upwards in 2022 is break and enters with respect to residential and non – residential (commercial) buildings. There were 19 residential incidents last month and 23 for non- residential.
