RMs gear up for elections

Rural municipalities (RM) across the province have elections coming up next month for several councilor positions, but based on the results after nominations, a number of RMs across the Prince Albert region will be status quo.

The nomination period ended on Wednesday afternoon but candidates still had until Thursday at 4 p.m. to withdraw. Here are the results and upcoming races in the Prince Albert region:

Prince Albert

Div. 2 – Tyler Hazelwood (acclaimed)

Div. 4 – Richard Wilson (acclaimed)

Div. 6 – Donovan Brule and Melanie Markling

Buckland

Div. 2 – Jason Zalewski (acclaimed)

Div. 4 – Melina Lavoie (acclaimed)

Div. 6 – Bill Hayes (acclaimed)

The nomination period will be in 2024 for the positions of Reeve, Div. 1, Div. 3 and Div. 6.

Paddockwood

Div. 2 – Don Zacharias (acclaimed)

Div. 4 – Clifford Aspvik and Brand Valkenburg

Div. 6 – Elwin Brons, Tom McKnight and Greg Nolan

St Louis

Div. 4 – Incumbent Kelly Njaa (acclaimed)

Div. 6 – Incumbent Raymond Parent (acclaimed)

RM plans to run a further call for nomination for Div. 2.

Shellbrook

Div. 2- Phil Hamel (acclaimed)

Div. 4 – Jay Ferster (acclaimed)

Duck Lake
