A man wanted in Toronto for first-degree murder with a $50,000 reward for his arrest was nabbed in Prince Albert.

Mohamed Hassan was arrested at 3:30 in the afternoon on Thursday outside a home on the 1400 Block of 28 Street East by investigators with the Prince Albert Police Crime Reduction Team.

Officers found a loaded handgun, ammunition, more than 120 grams of cocaine, crack cocaine, two cell phones and over $12,000 in cash.

Hassan is in custody and made his first appearance in Provincial court Monday morning.

He will be back in front of the judge tomorrow and is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, and obstruction of a peace officer.

His original charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder come from a drive-by shooting incident in April 2021 in Toronto.

Following his arrest in Prince Albert, arrangements are being made to transport Hassan to Toronto on the outstanding warrant.

Also charged in the incident was Koren Mercredi, age 49, of Prince Albert. She is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possessing the proceeds of a crime.

Mercredi was released on bail and will next appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on October 12.
