Police still searching for man last seen over a month ago

Aug 19, 2022 | 6:36 AM

It’s been more than a month since a man went missing north of Smeaton and police have put out another call for anyone with information.

Custer left Deschambault Lake on June 27 as he was travelling to La Ronge. He was given a ride to the Deschambault Lake junction.

He spent two nights on the highway between the junction and Big Sandy Lake and spent two nights at Big Sandy Lake Resort. He was last seen there on July 3 by the Caretaker.

Family said he may be in medical distress, exhibiting signs of the onset of dementia and arthritis in his knees and was not able to walk far without resting

Smeaton RCMP, with help from Saskatchewan RCMP Search and Rescue, the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, family and community members have searched the rural area where Malcolm was last seen. These searches will continue.

Custer is known to visit Deschambault Lake, Brabant Lake, La Ronge, Stanley Mission and Prince Albert, and Smeaton RCMP is working with investigators in each of these communities.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
