Over 20K people attend this year’s Summer Fair

Aug 8, 2022 | 1:00 PM

Five days of family fun have come to an end in Prince Albert and organizers of the 2022 Summer Fair couldn’t be happier with how the event went.

Over 22,000 people came through the doors for the annual event, some enjoying their first taste of the festivities since before the pandemic.

“I think the people of Prince Albert and surrounding areas were all receptive to coming back and getting outdoors again and enjoying life again after COVID,” said executive director, Deb Despins.

She added they had double the number of entries for this year’s parade compared to 2019 and, despite some rain, the parade went off without a hitch.

From vendors at the trade show to the midway and the many non-profits serving up food, Despins said everyone was pleased to be a part of this year’s exhibition.

The fair ended on Saturday night with the demolition derby at the grandstand which Despins said was a real treat for attendees.

“We had a very full crowd in our grandstand, it was so awesome to see the people come out to watch the event.”

Now that the 2022 event has come and gone, plans are already in motion for next August’s Summer Fair.

“Hope to see everybody back next year, for sure.”

Right now, the dates for the 2023 Summer Fair are set for Aug. 2–5.
