Prince Albert and the rest of northern Saskatchewan added quite a few new jobs last month.

According to Statistics Canada’s monthly report, the region added around 1,300 positions in July. This comes after adding 1,200 jobs in June and 800 in May.

The construction sector had the best month with around 800 spots filled.

The information, culture, and recreation sector also added 500 jobs, while the agriculture sector saw a jump of 400 positions.

The educational services sector had the worst month, losing 1,300 positions. The forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying, oil and gas sector also lost around 300 spots.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for the region is currently sitting at 4.2 per cent.

This is down from the 5.7 per cent rate the region had at the end of June.

The region’s rate is higher than the province’s, 4.0 per cent, but lower than the country’s 4.9 per cent rate.
