It was a golden performance for the Prince Albert Astros while the Aces were shining silver at the U15A Softball Provincials.

The Astros finished first in the round-robin to advance to the championship game on Sunday where they beat Ochapowace First Nation 8-1.

Head Jordan Ambrose said it was truly a team effort.

“I’m proud for the boys. It’s been a long road. This group’s been together for a lot of years and now to be able to do this at home in front of our parents and family and friends, it’s pretty special.”

The Astros will be heading to U15 Nationals which take place in Wilmot, Ont. – August 3 – 7

Meanwhile, after a dominant round-robin, the Prince Albert Aces were looking to close out the tournament with a gold medal.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as the Melfort Spirit won the final game 6-1. The Spirit claimed bronze in an earlier game beating the Regina Lazers 3-1.

Despite the loss, the Aces will still play in Nationals Aug. 3-7 in Saskatoon.
