For the second straight Prairie Gold Lacrosse League junior season, the Prince Albert Predators fell one game short of capturing the title. They lost 13-7 in the finals to the Saskatoon Jr. Swat on Friday in Saskatoon, who claimed the 2022 PGLL junior championship.

The Predators had a 4-3 lead early in the second period, but the Swat scored consecutive goals to pull away with the league title. Hayden Ulriksen and Matthew Cudmore both had two goals and an assist. Caidyn Prediger and Braden Shewchuk each had a goal and an assist, while Tyler Gusdal also scored for the Predators.

After Friday’s final, the Swat remained the only team the Predators couldn’t defeat this season. The Preds were 6-1-1 in the regular season, with both the loss and tie coming against the Swat. The Predators were 7-0 against the rest of the league, including their 20-3 win over the Regina Barracudas in the semifinals.
