Gutsy Walk makes triumphant return

Jun 11, 2022 | 12:00 PM

Canada’s largest fundraiser for research and awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis has set a goal of raising $2.9 million this year.

Returning as an in-person event after a two-year, pandemic-induced hiatus, the 2022 Gutsy Walk has so far collected more than $2.2 million so far, and the fundraising window remains open until July 11.

“It was a momentous occasion to see people out once again coming together as one to support those living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The creativity and passion of volunteers, participants and teams was inspiring,” President and CEO of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada Lori Radke said in a statement.

“Across the country, a strong statement was sent that we are committed to finding a cure for this life-long disease. We thank our incredible community for supporting this cause, and we thank our network of volunteers who worked hard to bring the event to life.”

More than 3,500 people attended one of the 53 in-person Gutsy Walk events this year, held at locations across Canada on June 5th. An additional 17 events were staged virtually including Prince Albert. Local participants were able to raise over $600.

Since its inception in 1996, Gutsy Walk has now raised more than $50 million for support programs and innovative research into cures.
