Second-rounder Gower signs with Raiders

After their 2022 prospects draft was wrapped up, the Prince Albert Raiders said they were pleased with the selections they’d made. They certainly have proven themselves eager to get those players signed up with the team.

After signing first round pick Luke Moroz last week, the Raiders announced another member of their draft class had signed with the team this afternoon.

Defenseman Ryan Gower, their second selection and 32nd overall in the recent prospects draft, has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.

“We are very excited to add Ryan to our defensive group. He is a transitional defenseman who can easily skate or pass himself out of trouble situations and can join the rush offensively,” said Raider Director of Player Personnel Bruno Zarrillo.

Gower spent last season with the Parkland Rangers U15 AAA program in Manitoba last season, posting 34 points in 32 games from the back end. This was good enough to lead the league in scoring by a defenseman. He followed this up with four points in five playoff games.

The McCreary, Man. native is listed at 5-7 in height. Earlier this month, he was named to Hockey Manitoba’s Program of Excellence camp along with fellow Raiders draftees Oli Chenier and Ethan Bibeau.
