Election day looms for Sturgeon Lake First Nation

Members of Sturgeon Lake First Nation will head to the polls this week, and elect a new Chief.

Advance polls run today in Saskatoon at the Ramada Hotel (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Thursday in Prince Albert at the Prince Albert Inn. (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

The general election is scheduled to take place Friday, with voting taking place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sturgeon Lake Community Hall.

The three candidates for Chief are Micah Daniels, James Felix and Christine Longjohn. The Incumbent Greg Ermine chose not to run after serving two terms.

There’s also six council seats: Badger Anthony Badger, Wesley Ballantyne, David Bighead, Mark Daniels, Sandra Ermine, Velmar Ermine, Fred Felix, Dalton Kingfisher, Orville Longjohn, Wayne McCallum, Banard Moosehunter, Kayla Morin, Justin Naytowhow, Anita Parenteu and Sol Sanderson.

The swearing in ceremony will take place Saturday.
